Pastelería Zuricalday is one of the most traditional pastry shops in Getxo and an important part of the town’s culinary history. Although it shares the Zuricalday name associated with the famous Martina de Zuricalday patisseries from Bilbao, the Getxo establishment is a separate business with its own history and identity. It was founded in 1917 by José María Bayo, grandson of Martina Zuricalday, the pioneering pastry maker who established the original Bilbao confectionery in the 19th century.
