Bar Castro

Bar Castro is one of the classic traditional bars in the old town of Pamplona, popular with both locals and visitors looking for authentic Navarrese food in a lively atmosphere. Located in the historic center, it is a great stop while exploring the streets around Plaza del Castillo and the old quarter.

The bar is especially famous for its tortilla de patata, considered by many locals to be among the best in Pamplona. Thick, creamy, with onion, and freshly prepared throughout the day, it has become the house specialty and one of the main reasons why people return again and again. Enjoying a slice of tortilla together with a small beer, local wine, or vermouth is one of the most traditional experiences in the city.

Alongside the tortilla, Bar Castro also serves a good selection of classic pintxos and homemade dishes inspired by traditional Navarrese cuisine. Depending on the season, visitors may find croquettes, cured meats, local vegetables, and other simple but high-quality specialties prepared with local ingredients.

The atmosphere is informal, busy, and very local, especially around lunchtime and in the evening when the bar fills with regular customers. During the San Fermín festival, the surrounding streets become particularly lively, making Bar Castro a popular meeting point in the heart of Pamplona.
